Hi! Today, I have an iPad Air 3 with me! Let’s see what are the differences between iPad Air 3 and iPad Pro! Stay right here! As you can see, iPad Air 3 has the same external design as 10.5-inch iPad Pro. The same size, same design, and same type of connector on the side for the Smart Keyboard. Everything is pretty much identical. However, there’s a difference between their speakers. iPad Air 3 has 2 speakers at the bottom of the body. While iPad Pro has 4 speakers around the body. That’s a noticeable point. For the spec, Apple has installed A12 chip and 3GB ram into iPad Air 3. The same ones being put in the iPad mini 5. So the result from the Geekbench is almost the same for these 2 models. However, the result of both models significantly differ from the latest iPad Pro which uses A12X chip This suggests for both results of CPU Multicore and GPU. But if A12 chip is compared with A10X chip
in 10.5-inch iPad Pro, the CPU score of A12 chip is slightly higher than the A10-chip score. On the other hand, the GPU of A10 chip is more powerful than the A12 chip. So is the spec of iPad Air 3 really powerful? The spec is still considered really powerful. As many game casters have played games on iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max which are installed with the same A12 chip smoothly, without any problems. Hence both of the iPads with A12 chip can perform just the same. iPad Air 3 has a 10.5-inch screen. With a laminated screen that has the LCD and touchscreen glass fused together as a single unit. Also come with wide colour display (P3) and
True Tone display. Some of you guys may not be familiar with True Tone display. True Tone display acts like a sensor around the iPad, then it analyses and adjusts white balance based on the light around you. For example, you are using the iPad in daylight, it will adjust the tone of the display according to the daylight to be a more yellowy/orangy base. On the other hand, when using the iPad under white light, the screen will appear to be more in a white/blue base. Whether you enjoy this function or not based on your own preferences. Personally, I don’t use this function at all for all of my devices. As I normally use these devices for photo-editing, I would like the device to show the work in the same tone at all time regardless of light around me. This depends on your preferences. For the screen display performance, the screens of both iPad Air 3 and iPad mini 5 support the performance of Dolby Vision movies. When comparing these 2 models with iPad Pro (2018), there’s only slightly dissimilar. As the iPad Pro has a more vibrant contrast. But with animated movies, there’s no difference at all. As animated movies don’t need to display
the skin tone colour. That’s why this can’t be distinguished among
these 3 models. Let’s talk about the speaker.
(*The sound will be louder than usual*) There’re 2 speakers at the bottom. this differs from iPad Pro which has 4 speakers. So here is the comparison between 2 and 4 speakers. That’s the contrast between iPad Air 3 and iPad Pro. I can distinguish the sound between them, but the difference is not that major from the other. Unlike comparing the sound of iPad mini 5 vs iPad Air 3 which I can clearly spot the different loudness. For these 2, of course, iPad Pro has more powerful sound as it has 4 speakers. But the sound from iPad Air 3 is pretty nice. I can see the difference in the deeper base. Which iPad Pro has done a slightly better job. That’s all. Next is the performance of iPad Air 3 together with Apple Pencil. As the 120Hz ProMotion display is not included in
iPad Air 3. So It has some level of difference compared with
iPad Pro which has the 120Hz ProMotion. This can be distinguished especially when doing the graphic illustration. When writing, as usual, I can barely notice any differences. However, when drawing or doing illustration, that’s when we can see the difference between those two. If you are really into doing artwork and want to feel as if you’re using the real stationery, iPad Air 3 may not be the one as the stroke delays from the Apple Pencil which will not be as real as using the real pencil. But this will not occur when using iPad Pro with the 120Hz ProMotion. The stroke barely delays with iPad Pro. If that’s what you’re concerned, then go for iPad Pro. If you will use for taking notes and documentary stuff, iPad Air 3 is good enough. The next topic is camera. I don’t expect much from all iPads’ cameras. The rear-facing camera is now an 8 Mega Pixel camera. With enough lighting, the pictures are pretty decent. But it’s not as great as the iPhone or smartphone camera. But it’s good enough for use in general. However, when taken at dawn, twilight, night, or with dim light, the pictures are not very good and clear. It let you record 1080p HD videos. Personally, I hardly use the iPad to even take photos or videos. So its performance is not really my concern. For the battery of iPad Air 3, With the same standard, it can be used up to 10 hours per one full charge. It can perform as it’s claimed
unless using it on heavy duty. But for playing games, it will run out of battery quicker. The disappointing part is that Apple has included a 10W adapter. But actually, iPad Air 3 can be supplied with electric power at 30W maximum. Same voltage as iPad Pro. Apple should have included an 18W adapter and
a USB-C to Lightning cable. These will definitely fasten the charging process. Apple should have included the adapter and cable for iPad Air 3 and iPad mini 5. Now, let’s talk about a smart connector on the side of the body. Some of you guys may not be familiar with this thing and don’t know how it works. It is mainly for connecting to the Smart Keyboard. The same Smart Keyboard as being used with
10.5-inch iPad Pro. The Smart Keyboard Cover is only the front cover. As I have tried using it which is priced for 5,900 Baht, You need to be careful not to leave the side of the keyboard damp. As damp can soften the side of it. Just a little note when using the keyboard. Here’s my conclusion for the iPad Air 3! It is actually the 10.5-inch iPad Pro without
the 120 Hz ProMotion display. As I mentioned earlier, this depends on your preferences. If you want more realistic feeling when writing/drawing, then go for the iPad Pro. But if you are not that serious with that issue, then opting for iPad Air 3 will save some more money. For the Smart Keyboard, I cannot guarantee that this version of Smart Keyboard can be used with newer models of iPads in the future. For the past 3 versions, Apple would launch the new iPad Pro together with the new Smart Keyboard. If you’re concerned that buying the Smart Keyboard is a lot of money and cannot be sure whether it can be used with newer models. Another option is buying
the Bluetooth Keyboard instead. Here’s everything about iPad Air 3
that you need to know! See you in the next video! Bye!
(Please stay till the end!) So this is an additional part after watching the review of iPad Air 3. After I’ve done reviews of iPad Air 3 and iPad mini 5, I’ve received this question that caught my eyes. “What should I choose between iPad mini 5 and iPad Air 3?” This depends on the screen size that you prefer. You can use a piece of A4 paper as a guideline for the size of both models. The size of the iPad mini 5 is the size of A4 paper folded in half, and the size of iPad Air 3 is about
the whole A4 paper. If you like taking note or drawing in a smaller space,
iPad mini 5 may be the answer. This depends solely on the size of the screen that you want to work with. Just choose the size you prefer. That’s all for today! Bye guys!
