Nokia Lumia 1020 vs Lumia 925 comparison

Nokia Lumia 1020 vs Lumia 925 comparison

>>MARK GUIM: Hey Nokia fans. It’s Mark for
The Nokia Blog. In this video, we are going to compare the Nokia Lumia 925 and the Nokia
Lumia 1020. Here in the US the two devices are sold by
different carriers. The 1020 is on AT&T, while the 925 is on T-Mobile. They’re both available
now. The Nokia Lumia 925 is thinner at 8.5mm compared
to 10.4 on the Nokia Lumia 1020. The width and height are very similar. The 925 also
feels a little bit lighter, but not so much. It also feels better to hold thanks to its
smaller size. The 925 also doesn’t have a big camera hump that’s on the Lumia 1020. The Lumia 925 has an aluminum frame with a
polycarbonate back while the Lumia 1020 has a unibody polycarbonate material. The 925
feels a little more elegant because of the metal, while the Lumia 1020 feels more solid. They both have a 4.5-inch display with 768×1280
pixels resolution. They look the same in my eyes. They’re visible in sunlight, the colors
seem to pop, and they both support supersensitive touch so you can still use your phone even
with gloves on. One difference is that the Lumia 1020 display is protected by Gorilla
Glass 3 while the 925 has Gorilla Glass 2. According to Corning, the makers of Gorilla
Glass, the third version is three times more damage resistant than Gorilla Glass 2. Above the displays are the front facing cameras.
They’re both 1.2 megapixels. Let’s now take a look at the back of these
two devices. The Lumia 925 has an 8.7 megapixel camera while the 1020 has a monster 41 megapixel
camera. The 1020 also has a brighter xenon flash similar to other digital cameras while
the 925 has a dual LED flash. Main advantage of the camera on the Lumia 1020 is that you
can zoom and reframe photos without losing quality. I noticed the photos on the Lumia
1020 appear to be sharper as well. They both have optical image stabilization
to keep the camera stable while you’re moving. This helps in making videos smooth. This is
also great for taking low light photos without using flash. Both of these devices have the same high quality
microphones that let you record loud events without distortion, so they’re great for concerts.
There is also stereo recording on both devices. You can find the speakers on the back of the
Lumia 925 while the speakers on the 1020 are at the bottom. I’m actually very curious..
which speaker location do you prefer? Back or bottom? Let me know in the comments section
below. On top are the microSIM slots. Push a pin
through the holes to open. The audio jacks are also located on top of both devices. What’s
different is that the microUSB port is on top of the Nokia Lumia 925. It’s at the bottom
for the Nokia Lumia 1020. If we turn these devices to the side we see
that they both have the power, volume control, and camera buttons. The buttons on the Lumia
1020 have good feedback, however I find that sometimes I have to press the power button
on the 925 more than once to turn on or off the screen. A lot of the other things are the same on
both devices. They have the same battery with 2000mAh capacity. They both support wireless
charging using snap-on cases. And they both have a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor. There
are differences in the RAM and internal storage. The Lumia 1020 has 2GB RAM and 32GB storage
while the 925 has 1GB RAM and 16GB storage. I don’t see any performance differences within
the apps, but you’ll definitely need to watch the storage space on the Lumia 925. These two devices both run the latest versions
of Windows Phone 8. They support the same apps. They also both support LTE. The two
major differences here are the camera and size. If you want a thin Lumia smartphone,
get the Lumia 925. If you want the best cameraphone, get the the Lumia 1020. Choosing between the
two isn’t such a big problem because they are sold by different carriers here in the
US. The Nokia Lumia 1020 is available at AT&T while the Lumia 925 is available at T-mobile.
Your decision depends more on your carrier preference. That should be it for this comparison. If

  1. Thanks a lot for this great video comparison 🙂
As for loudspeakers, I prefer more the bottom placement as it makes the sound a bit louder than being muffled on the back specially when left on a desk or table.
But I'd like to say that it also depends on the kind of the speaker itself. I have the Note II and the speaker is on the back but it's pretty loud! Even louder than my previous Lumia 800 with bottom speakers.

  2. does your 925s backcover make that noise that the guys from pocketnow recognised?
    (under the camera)

  3. what's the app with the girl on 1020's tile?

  4. what's the app with the girl on 1020's tile?

  5. first comment about front facing cam ,l have not seen before in other reviews ,thanks

  6. battery life????

  7. Combining the 925's body with 1020's camera would be heaven!

  8. that's not good to hear 🙁

  9. Back AND bottom, if you know what I mean

  10. Bottom…better during conference calls

  11. Back

  12. Mark, I never had that problem with the power button you are referring. Could it be a physical issue of your device?

  13. For the Lumia series, I prefer to have the speaker(s) at the bottom (if held vertically), mostly because I like to cup my hand around the speaker to have the sound bounced towards me. I just wish the sound aspect of the Lumia series weren't so sacrificed during the hardware design. I remember when older Nokia devices had some quality stereo speakers (vertical & horizontal), and they were really loud. As microtechnology improves, I hope we'll see quality speakers make a comeback for the Lumia.

  14. no 64gb in 1020?

  15. Love your videos. Unfortunately, for me, I'm on Verizon and my choice of Windows Phones are limited. I'm an Android user and thinking about switching. I really want the 1020, but it's not available. I suspect Verizon may get some 1020 variant. Have you heard anything regarding Verizon getting the 1020? Thanks!

  16. Hey I have a 925 and it doesn't have that back cover noise you guys are talking about. It feels really solid.

  17. Microsoft bought Nokia :O

  18. Thanks! Very nice comparison indeed.

  19. You're welcome!

  20. good Nokia

  21. good Nokia

  22. even with 1gb ram for 925 and 2 on 1020 you can't feel performance differnces?

  23. Nic video

  24. I personally prefer the micro USB cord to be at the top of the device. As for the speakers, it doesn't really matter for me as long as speakers sound good. They were not that great on the 920 which was a major dissappointment for me.

  25. agree

  26. mate, the 925 has a single channel recording and not dual…..only 920 & 1020 record stereo sound…

  27. I notice that every video on Youtube nowadays is being shot with a dlsr camera so they don't focus very well or very very slow. It is very irritating to watch!!! Go and buy a decent camcorder please!

  28. Great video, thanks. The internals of the nokia lumia 925 are 2012. Old technology but great looking exterior on this phone.

  29. I prefer bottom because it looks better and less noticable

  30. which is you prefer for me, lumia 925, 1020 or 1520?

  31. you had a few mistakes. one is that they are both only carried by either tmobile or at&t. when i moved to alaska i had the 1020 but i had to swich from tmobil to at&t and got the 925 instead for the ease of accessibility and size. and i prefer the speckers on the bottom rather then the back because when i have to set down my phone at home and the speaker s on the bck i have to see t it on the screan and it scratches my screan protecter.

  32. and the 925 has singal chalnel recording not dual. and i wosh they would go back to letting you use micro sds or even full sized. i hate being limited tointernal storage.

  33. i would also like to i form you that me and gf are not haveing the button problem its probably user error or a physical disconecion in the phone and could easily be repaired.

  34. i prefer the speakers on the bottom simply because if the device is placed face up on a desk or table the sound can be distorted if the speakers are on the back

  35. The 925 is now available on AT&T as well

  36. My brother has the 1020. Everyone boast about it amazing camera. 41 megapixles! However, I don't see why it's getting so much praise. The display is horrible. The display also holds the camera back; thru my experience I took the assumption that the camera was better then what the display showed. Meanwhile, Amoleds are know to show really fake saturated colours. How does the display help the Lumia? The camera's finish is made of really bad matte plastic, it's attracts a ton of scratches no matter where its at. I should be able to carry the phone in the same pocket as my pen. Better yet, my nails shouldn't scratch the back plastic. :-/

  37. Os dois Smartphone mais bonitos do mundo

  38. will the nokia 1020 ever go to metro pcs/ t mobile?

  39. Have had both phones, i got rid of the 1020 and kept the 925.

  40. does the white 925 get really dirty? although both models are the same material right?

  41. 1020 all the way!!!! i got 625 too!

  42. i really dont know which one to chose, here in Holland the 925 is a bit cheaper and I don't think i use the camera that much to pick the 1020 but it seems a really cool phone… what should i do??

  43. I don't think the 925 have a micro sd slot on the top. I'm looking up some specs about it. If it did I would consider buying one for myself.

  44. I own a 925, want a 1020 just because of the camera. The buttons on the 925 are all attached to a flimsy piece of metal separate from the frame with no support near the power button. As for the speaker question, i use headphones. It is nice having the charge port on top.

  45. bottom

  46. Ok
