Hi everyone, in this video I show you how to make a case for your Ipod or smartphone. This phonecase is designed by Jacy from the youtube channel Craftlife. I have their permission translate their tutorial in Dutch. I will not subtitle the casemaking-part. You can see that in the original video. Here is the link to the original video. Jacy makes the case with color blocks. It is easier for you if you change color for each row. This way you just hook the bottom color over the top color. I make the phone case slightly different than Jacy and I found out a way to personalize your case. You can for example add a Smiley, or letters like your name or initials. On this case I “wrote” LOVE and in another video I added a heart. I will show you the schedules and I will give you the case-measurements I often get requests for other smartphone case tutorials but I do not have them in my house so can’t do it. This phonecase will be the most “universal”. It will fit most smartphones. It is 12 cm long And the width is 7 centimeter. Of course it is elastic and in the video I do not use all pins so if you include the last 2 pins, the case will be a bit wider. Now I measure the case from this video. The “hole” for the Phone screen is 8 cm length and width 5 cm. And length case is 12 cm, width 7 cm. Ipod measurements: length 12 and width 12. For the screen: length 9 cm and width 5 cm. The camerahole is on the left. I will get the schedule now. Hopefully with these measurements and this schedule you can make your own personal schedule. This case is 25 rows long. Row 1 and row 25 are the beginning and ending (red stripes) For the screen 5 pins are left out during 13 rows. In the original video these 5 pins are left out during 12 rows, and there are tutorials who leave them out for 15 rows. I decided to go in between to chose to hook 13 rows without those 5 pins. Row 22, pin nr 2 and 3 is the camera hole. Should your camera hole be more to the right, you can leave out pin nr 3 and pin nr 4 instead. I put in a Smiley but you can make your own design! For example a peace sign, just anything you like and that will fit into the schedule. You could choose to make the letters or sign with double bands. On the right I used double bands for the eyes. On this case I used double bands for the letter “COOL”. This is the schedule I used for” love”. Just pause the video and make this schedule if you like. You only have to follow this schedule like I will do when I follow the schedule for the smiley. This is the schedule for the heart case. If you had trouble so far making a Phone case with chargerholes, I hope this schedule makes it easier for you. I will not rush in this video and that means this tutorial will be in 2 parts. If you do not want a sign like a heart or letters, it is easier. Just do not add the extra bands. Right, enough talking. Let’s start. Good luck! This is the schedule we are going to use. The front of the case with hole for the phonescreen. And this is the back with the Smiley. This is the charger hole. Here you see the camera hole. In total we do 25 rounds. Round number 1 are the bands for the bottom of your case: the X’s. Every time we finished hooking a round, we fold that round to the back. So we start with row number 1 now, using 11 pins BUT leaving pin nr 6 empty for the chargerhole. This is how I use the loom: middle row gone, big blue base gone. I have the pin openings on the right for the front row and on the left for the back row. The loom has 13 pins so we leave out the first pin and the last. And of course also pin nr 6 for now. For the making of the case I refer to the original English video. But I will subtitle the Smiley Part. We are adding bands to extra strengthen the bottom. If the is hard for you, just leave this part out. Dive under 2 X’s, hook a band underneath and make a SlipKnot above the 2 X’s. Do this for all X’s, just 2 X’s at the time. After you hooked row nr 10, it’s time to add bands for the Smiley. Now we add bands for the Smiley. Look at the schedule. Pin nr 4 gets a black band, pin nr 5, 6, 7 and 8 get yellow and pin nr 9 gets a black band. So we start with a black band for pin nr 4. Put this band 3 times on your hook. Take off the bands from pin nr 4 and slip on the 3 little black loops from your hook. Put the 2 loops back on pin nr 4. Now we do this 4 times with a yellow band. And the last one we add is black. And now row 10 is completed and can be folded to the back. We continue with row nr 11. This is what you keep doing to make the smiley. Just follow the schedule. Placing the bands and hooking the bands is repetitive so I will fast forward that part. I hope all is going well so far. We continue in part 2 of this Tutorial.
